Telangana SSC exams Stop rigidity or stay SSC examinations, HC warns govt

On Friday the Telangana high court threatened to stop the SSC exams, which are scheduled to start on June 8, if the state government was not willing to allow those students who wanted to take the exams at a later stage in view of Covid-19 fears.

The court said the government must come up with a response by Saturday afternoon, failing which it would be forced to stay the entire schedule of examinations.

Stressing that the state should be careful as it concerns childrens lives, a bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy said the government should prove flexibility with regard to those students whose parents do not wish to send them out for examinations in view of the prevailing situation of Covid-19.

Those who miss the examinations now should be allowed to write the supplementary examinations which are likely to take place in August or September. Their marks memos should show them as regular students and not as those passed in the supplementary examinations, which is considered a stigma, the bench observed, indicating that it would allow the examinations with such a condition.
